Frisky's Reshuffle: Laura Corcoran Returns to Fringe World 2026 with Solo Debut Show
Laura Corcoran, better known as Miss Frisky from the UK musical comedy duo Frisky & Mannish, is making a highly anticipated return to Perth's Fringe World festival in 2026. This time, she arrives with her solo debut show, Frisky's Reshuffle, marking a significant milestone in her evolving career.
A Decade of Transformation
Corcoran's last visit to Perth was exactly ten years ago, a period she describes as a real turning point. At that time, she had achieved Fringe World stardom alongside Matthew Jones, aka Mannish, but was beginning to explore solo performances as Miss Frisky. Reflecting from her renovated farmhouse in rural France, she recalls, "I was just starting to perform as Miss Frisky solo and develop her as an MC, holding together big shows."
This solo venture characterised the following years, leading her to work across Europe in cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, and Monaco. Adapting to new languages, including French and German, became part of her journey, adding layers to her comedic and musical repertoire.
The Genesis of Frisky's Reshuffle
The show's concept had been simmering since around 2013, but it wasn't until Corcoran turned 40 that she decided to stop waiting for perfection. "I had the absolutely classic 'Oh f...!' moment, and stopped dithering, nitpicking, and waiting for everything to be perfect, and got on with it," she explains. This newfound resolve culminated in the debut of Frisky's Reshuffle at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2025, where she was also honoured with delivering the opening address.
The warmly received season in Edinburgh led to an offer to bring the show to Perth, a full-circle moment for Corcoran. "Reshuffle is the show I had to make at this moment in my life," she asserts. "I don't think I could've done it before now. I've got thousands of hours of stage time under my belt, in many guises, and I can honestly say I actually know what I am doing enough now to go on stage and do a show like this."
An Interactive Musical Play Date
Frisky's Reshuffle is not a traditional performance; it's an interactive experience where the audience takes the wheel. Corcoran and her four-piece band invite crowd members to challenge them to play any song in any style, creating a unique show every night. "We'll try anything you want, in whatever style you like," she promises.
Examples of potential requests include:
- A thrash metal version of My Heart Will Go On
- A jazz take on AC/DC
- A Mongolian throat singing rendition of Edelweiss
Corcoran describes the show as "totally absurd, but a celebration of trusting yourself, throwing yourself into the unknown, and risking it for a biscuit." It's designed to turn a room of strangers into old friends, with Corcoran embracing a warmer, looser persona. "I'm still giving you the big voice, the glam, the style switches, the ridiculousness, but you get to join in and challenge me with exactly what we do," she says.
Legacy and Future of Frisky & Mannish
While focusing on her solo career, Corcoran clarifies that her partnership with Mannish remains amicable. "We haven't performed together in five years, and there are no current plans to do it again right now. But it's nothing dramatic, we're still the best of friends," she notes. Their stage names, inspired by Lord Byron's Don Juan nearly two decades ago, continue to be a part of her identity as she forges new paths.
Frisky's Reshuffle will be performed at the Lotterywest De Parel Speigeltent from February 4 to 15, 2026. This show represents not just a return to Perth, but a bold step forward in Corcoran's career, blending her extensive experience with a fresh, audience-driven format.
