Perth's Whitfords West Park Unveils $1.3 Million Pump and Jump Track Upgrade
New Pump Track Opens at Perth's Whitfords West Park

Major Park Upgrade Completed in Perth's Northern Suburbs

A significant $1.3 million enhancement to Whitfords West Park in Kallaroo has been officially finalised, marking a substantial investment in community recreational facilities. The centrepiece of this project is a brand-new pump and jump track, now accessible to residents and visitors alike.

State-of-the-Art Riding Facilities for All Ages

The newly constructed track offers an exciting circuit featuring rollers, berms, and jumps specifically designed for BMX bikes, mountain bikes, and scooters. This versatile infrastructure caters to riders across all age groups and skill levels, from beginners to experienced enthusiasts.

Joondalup Mayor Daniel Kingston expressed his enthusiasm for the completed project, highlighting its broader community benefits. "The Whitfords West Park pump and jump track represents a wonderful addition to our local amenities, creating an engaging space where riders can test their abilities, develop confidence, and appreciate outdoor activities," Mr Kingston stated.

"We recognise the crucial importance of providing young people and families with accessible locations where they can maintain physical activity, foster social connections, and remain actively involved in their community," he continued. "This facility extends beyond mere riding; it's about cultivating friendships, promoting resilience, and generating lasting memories."

Collaborative Funding and Additional Amenities

The ambitious upgrade was made possible through a collaborative funding arrangement:

  • The City of Joondalup contributed $740,500 towards the project
  • The State Government provided $606,434 through its PlayOn WA initiative

Beyond the pump track, the park improvements include several other enhancements:

  1. A new basketball pad for community use
  2. An upgraded playspace for younger children
  3. A flying fox installation
  4. Improved barbecue facilities for family gatherings

Growing Network of Recreational Spaces

This development represents part of a broader expansion of pump track facilities across the City of Joondalup region. Recent months have seen similar openings at Lysander Park in Heathridge (June 2025) and Gibson Park in Padbury (April 2025), creating a network of accessible riding locations throughout the northern suburbs.

Hillarys MLA Caitlin Collins shared her excitement about the new facility's potential impact. "This installation will rapidly evolve into a central gathering point for youth and families, offering a secure and inviting environment for connection, enjoyment, and physical engagement," Ms Collins remarked.

"Initiatives like this demonstrate the tangible outcomes of investing in local infrastructure, generating opportunities for healthier living, stronger community relationships, and providing our younger residents with a genuine sense of belonging," she added.

Statewide Infrastructure Initiative

The PlayOn WA scheme, which supported this project, forms part of the State Government's comprehensive plan to deliver 2,030 community sports infrastructure items across Western Australia by 2030. This strategic approach aims to enhance recreational opportunities and promote active lifestyles throughout the state.
