Western Australia's Creative Pulse Beats Strong This November
This November, Western Australia is buzzing with an incredible line-up of cultural events, from groundbreaking fashion shows to milestone music celebrations. The creative energy is palpable across Fremantle, Melville, and Busselton, offering something for every taste.
Fashion Takes Centre Stage in Fremantle
The Fremantle Markets is preparing for a historic moment, hosting its very first large-scale fashion showcase. The event will transform the iconic Henderson Mall into a dynamic runway this Saturday, November 15. Starting at 2pm, the show will feature a curated selection of both established and emerging local designers, celebrating the depth of homegrown talent.
Best of all, this vibrant display of local creativity is completely free to attend. The event will be held within the historic, open-air Victorian building, and for those who can't make the show, the designs will remain on public display for the entire month. "Fremantle is the perfect setting for this kind of event," says event producer Tricia Ray. "It’s creative, it’s community driven, and it’s full of character."
Intimate Dining and Milestone Gigs
Further south, Busselton welcomes an exclusive new culinary experience called Supper Club. Opening for the spring and summer seasons, this intimate 30-seat venue will operate every Friday and Saturday night from the former South West Wine Shop. The concept is driven by chefs Brendan Pratt and Tai Yokoyama, promising seasonal menus and exclusive events.
The club will feature a rotating lineup of chef residencies, kicking off with UK chef Oliver Brown in November, followed by the renowned sustainable chef Matt Stone in February. "The fluid nature of Supper Club also opens the door for collaboration," explains Pratt. "We’ll be cooking alongside some of Australia’s best talent and even exploring creative pairings with artists and musicians." Bookings are essential and can be made via the Busselton Pavilion website.
In music news, Perth's beloved surf-punk-garage band, The Chevelles, are celebrating an impressive 35 years in the industry. To mark this major milestone, they will play a special anniversary show at Mojos Bar on November 14. Formed from the remnants of iconic Perth bands from the late 1980s, The Chevelles have built a formidable reputation, touring internationally and playing major festivals. Tickets for this not-to-be-missed performance are available online.
Free Music, Public Art, and Garden Tours
The City of Melville has once again launched its popular Melville Summer Music series, a program of free, family-friendly concerts that will run until March 2026. The series boasts a diverse lineup of 10 live music sessions, spanning genres from blues to alt-country. Attendees won't need to worry about food, as a selection of food trucks will be on site. The full program is available on the City of Melville's website.
Meanwhile, the Fremantle Biennale contemporary art festival is set to transform Walyalup (Fremantle) into a vast canvas of creativity. Running over three weekends starting November 13, the festival will feature large-scale public art installations, live music, and contemporary dance performances. The complete schedule can be found on the official Visit Fremantle website.
Finally, art and heritage enthusiasts have a unique opportunity at Subiaco's heritage mansion, Fairview. The inaugural Fairview Festival of Flowers will highlight the property's beautiful garden, stunning stained glass, and significant collection of women's art. Owner Thomas Murrell will conduct four exclusive midday tours, commencing on World Kindness Day, November 13, and running until November 16. Tickets are limited and must be pre-purchased online.
