Volunteering Heroes Honoured: North Queensland Awards Finalists

Volunteering North Queensland has revealed the finalists for its annual awards, honouring those who quietly dedicate their lives to filling community gaps across the region, from emergency services to youth mentoring.

Quiet Dedication Celebrated

Volunteering North Queensland (VNQ) president Anne Camplin said these individuals are the reason local services survive and thrive. "What's particularly powerful is that many of these volunteers don't see their contribution as anything special," Ms Camplin said. "They are just playing their part in our community."

Recognising that effort is the driving force behind National Volunteer Week, which runs from May 19 to 25. The week begins with a Civic Reception hosted by Townsville City Council on May 19, followed by pop-up events, and the VEXPO volunteering expo on May 22 and 23, which includes an Inspire and Ignite Networking Lunch.
