Two men were pepper sprayed and arrested following a dramatic incident at Waurn Ponds on Tuesday evening. Police were called to a shopping centre carpark after reports of a disturbance, and upon arrival, officers encountered two men acting aggressively.

The incident unfolded around 6:30 pm when police responded to reports of a fight in the carpark of Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as the two men allegedly refused to comply with police commands, leading to the use of capsicum spray to subdue them.
Senior Sergeant Mark Kelly confirmed that the men, aged 24 and 27, were taken into custody without further incident. Both were treated at the scene for the effects of the pepper spray before being transported to Geelong Police Station for questioning.
Charges Laid
The 24-year-old from Geelong has been charged with affray, resisting arrest, and assaulting an emergency worker. The 27-year-old from Norlane faces charges of affray and resisting arrest. Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Shoppers and nearby residents expressed shock at the dramatic scenes. Local business owner Sarah Thompson said, 'It was quite frightening to see the police having to use pepper spray. You don't expect that kind of thing in Waurn Ponds.'
