American film and television star Sydney Sweeney has been spotted at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) cheering on the Sydney Swans during their home fixture against Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.
Pre-Game Gift and Matchday Experience
Before the match, the Euphoria actress was gifted her own number 21 Sydney Swans guernsey by Errol Gulden, who shares the number, along with AFL women's player Taylor Smith. During the game, the 28-year-old appeared in high spirits on the broadcast, flanked by her father Steven, both wearing bright red Swans caps, and her close friend Kelley McCartney.
This was not Sweeney's first experience at an AFL match. She was invited into the Swans club rooms in 2023 while filming her romantic comedy Anyone But You in Sydney.
Social Media Highlights
Sharing her exploits on social media during her latest trip to her namesake city, Sweeney expressed her delight at returning "home." In a post, she said, "Back at my spot, definitely missed this," captioning a story that showed followers her accommodation overlooking what appeared to be Bondi Beach.
Sweeney also shared her experience climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge with her family, revealing that her father owed her a trip to Sydney because he named her after the city. Captioning an image atop the landmark, she wrote: "It was a bucket list trip for him and he named ma after the place so he had to come see it finally right?"
