A 57-year-old man from Sydney's inner west has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly posing as a casting agent to lure aspiring young actors into a predatory scheme. The man is accused of offering false television and film opportunities to his victims in exchange for sexual activity, according to New South Wales Police.
Police Investigation and Raid
An investigation into the alleged scheme was launched in November, focusing on falsified documents used to deceive victims. NSW Police executed a search warrant at the man's Lewisham home around 9am on Friday, leading to his arrest. During the raid, officers seized documents and electronic items from the residence as part of their evidence collection.
Charges and Court Appearance
The 57-year-old was charged with a total of 11 offences, including serious crimes related to identity fraud and exploitation. The charges include six counts of possessing identification information with the intention to commit or facilitate an indictable offence, three counts of dealing with identification information for the same purpose, and one count of stalking or intimidating with the intent to cause fear of physical harm.
Additionally, he faces a charge of procuring a child for prostitution, highlighting the severity of the alleged offences. The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday to face these allegations.
