Police Appeal After Teen Threatened on Cairns Bus

Police have launched an appeal for information following an alleged threat made to a teenager on a bus in Cairns. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, around 3:30 PM, on a bus traveling along Sheridan Street in the Cairns CBD.

Details of the Incident

According to police, a 15-year-old boy was approached by an unknown man who allegedly made verbal threats towards him. The man then exited the bus at a stop near the Cairns Central shopping centre. The teenager was not physically harmed but was left shaken by the encounter.

Description of the Suspect

The suspect is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 40s, with a medium build and short brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue polo shirt, dark shorts, and sunglasses. Police believe he may have been carrying a black backpack.

Police Investigation

Officers from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit are investigating the matter. They are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about the suspect to come forward. Police are particularly interested in speaking to passengers who were on the bus at the time.

“We are treating this matter seriously and want to ensure the safety of all public transport users,” a police spokesperson said. “Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial to our investigation.”
