UPDATE 2.57pm: Mum Nicole Fisher said her daughter had been found safe at home this afternoon.
“She wasn’t on drugs, she wasn’t drunk, she was just lost ... she had lost her phone and didn’t know anyone’s number off by heart,” Ms Fisher explained.
“She’s looking at me most annoyed ... but it’s better than her body found somewhere.”
She said the 18-year-old had “hung around Drysdale” overnight and turned up at home in Bell Post Hill at about 2.30pm.
Earlier: Desperate search for missing teenager
Earlier, the terrified Bell Post Hill mum was searching for her 18-year-old daughter, Azaria, who she said went to a friend’s house Saturday night and hadn’t made contact since.
Nicole Fisher called her daughter’s phone last night, and was horrified when the call was picked up by Geelong Police.
Ms Fisher said Azaria’s friends left her at 6.45pm Saturday, when she said she was “just going for a walk”.
Since filing a missing persons report and sharing about the situation on Facebook, Ms Fisher said she had received a number of messages claiming Azaria had been sighted.
“A person said that he thought he saw her get off at a bus stop (in Bell Post Hill at 7.55pm) and that she seemed out of it,” Ms Fisher said.
“A lot of other people are messaging that she was walking down a road in Drysdale at 1am, and someone else said they made her a coffee at a cafe in Drysdale at 6.30am.”
The mother said this behaviour was completely out of character.
“Azaria is not like that. I’m concerned something has happened to her,” she said.
“She’s a top academic achiever kind of person. This is weird.”
Ms Fisher said her daughter was 5’2 with a slim build.
Acting senior sergeant at Geelong Police Station Brendan O’Mahoney said: “We have had recent reports she may be in the Drysdale area. If she is seen please call triple-0.”
