David Harbour has finally broken his silence on ex-wife Lily Allen’s brutally candid break-up album, West End Girl, released in 2025. The Stranger Things star, 51, addressed the album in a new interview with Variety, describing the experience as “weird.”
Harbour’s Response to the Album
“It was weird,” Harbour told Variety in an interview published today. “I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”
When asked if he would like to deny the allegations of cheating that Allen implied on the album, Harbour responded, “Stories are complex. And that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience,” he continued, explaining that his ability to “transform life into art was through acting.”
Focus on New Role
Harbour emphasized his upcoming role in the HBO series DTF St. Louis, where he plays ASL interpreter Floyd Smernitch. The role required a physical transformation, including wearing a prosthetic belly. He declined to elaborate further on the album, stating, “I can’t really say that much more. It’s my private life. In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life — I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that.”
Allen’s Album Details
In February 2025, it was revealed that the pair had separated after four years of marriage. Allen’s album, released in October 2025, includes tracks like Dallas Major, where she implies Harbour was a “sex addict” and sang about an “open” relationship that “went astray.” On P**sy Palace, she accuses him of living a “double life,” finding a stash of lube, sex toys, and condoms. In 4chan Stan, she sings about a receipt from Bergdorf Goodman for a handbag bought in May 2024 for someone else while she was in London.
Allen, 41, filed for divorce in September 2025. She told Perfect Magazine, “There are definitely some things that happened in my real life that are reflected on this record. Two people who were once together are not together. And that’s really sad. It’s hard for me to not have my person, you know?”
A rep for Allen was not immediately available for comment.
