Merriwa Students Transform Park Wall into Colourful Mural Space
Merriwa Students Create Colourful Mural at Dalvik Park

Dalvik Park in Merriwa has been given a colourful makeover by young local artists as part of a new initiative creating safe spaces for creative expression.

Students Transform Park Wall

Merriwa Primary School students recently took part in two weekend workshops, turning the park’s old tennis court hit-up wall into a large-scale practice area for street art.

Growing from simple canvas experiments into an evolving mural, the wall now serves as a free and safe legal space where young creatives can collaborate and continuously contribute their own work.

New layers of artwork are expected to be added, reflecting the voices, culture and creativity of local young people.

Mayor Praises Initiative

City of Wanneroo mayor Linda Aitken said the initiative reflected the city’s commitment to supporting local arts and providing positive opportunities for young people.

“This ever-changing mural space gives young people and emerging artists a safe, legal and inspiring place to express themselves,” Ms Aitken said.

“Murals bring colour, vibrancy and life to public spaces and this project allows young artists to contribute to their community in a meaningful way.”
