AbilitySeer Empowers 200+ NDIS Participants with Person-Centred Support
Canberra's AbilitySeer: NDIS Support Focused on Dignity & Choice

For Canberra-based disability support provider AbilitySeer, empowering people to live life on their own terms is a daily mission, not just a focus for International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).

From Humble Beginnings to Multidisciplinary Support

Founded in 2017 by managing director Tim O'Hare, AbilitySeer started as a small sole trader operation addressing a gap in reliable, person-centred support in the capital. Today, it is a registered NDIS provider supporting more than 200 participants across the ACT and southern NSW, including Queanbeyan, Yass, and Goulburn.

"What started as one support coordinator with one participant has grown into a multidisciplinary organisation," Mr O'Hare explained. The business now employs a team of 80, comprising support workers, coordinators, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.

The organisation's philosophy is built on listening without judgment and understanding the unique barriers each client faces. "Our work is centred on supporting people to live safely, confidently, and independently in the community, with a strong commitment to dignity, choice, and control," Mr O'Hare said.

A Broad Spectrum of Personalised Services

AbilitySeer delivers a comprehensive and flexible suite of participant-led services. Their offerings are designed to build capacity and foster independence, including:

  • Community access and in-home support
  • Support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching
  • Short, medium, and long-term supported accommodation options
  • Cleaning and domestic assistance

This year, for IDPwD, AbilitySeer is celebrating by highlighting participant achievements and team dedication through storytelling and community event participation. The day serves as a key moment to acknowledge strengths and advocate for a more inclusive society.

Commitment to Inclusion and Future Growth

Looking forward, AbilitySeer aims to expand support for participants with complex needs and develop more inclusive community programs. The provider is currently preparing for its NDIS recertification audit, underscoring its focus on quality and safeguarding.

Their commitment to excellence has been recognised with a nomination for a Chief Minister's Inclusion Award in the 'Excellence in Collaborating with People with a Disability' category. Furthermore, the team has taken the Pledge on Disability Action with the Canberra Business Chamber and implemented a dedicated Disability Action Plan to promote inclusive employment.

Beyond core services, AbilitySeer staff actively contribute to the local community, supporting initiatives like the Ainslie Community Pantry and the Early Morning Centre's 'Feel Good Feed', and sponsoring events such as the Special Children's Christmas Party.
