Police Officer Charged Following Motorbike Collision with Service Vehicle
A police officer has been formally charged with negligent driving in connection to a serious incident that occurred in Woodberry during October of last year. The charges stem from a crash involving a suspected unregistered motorbike, which collided with both a utility pole and a marked police truck, resulting in injuries to the rider.
Details of the Woodberry Crash Incident
On the evening of October 30, 2025, officers operating a marked paddy wagon attempted to stop a motorbike on Kingstown Road in Woodberry, shortly after 7:30 PM. According to police reports, the rider allegedly accelerated away from the scene but subsequently lost control of the vehicle. This loss of control led to the motorbike striking a pole and then crashing into the police service vehicle.
Following the collision, police officers immediately provided first aid to the 28-year-old male rider. NSW Ambulance paramedics soon arrived at the location to offer further medical treatment. The injured man was transported to John Hunter Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and later discharged after being cleared of any serious injuries.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
An extensive five-month police investigation was launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash. As a result, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, a 24-year-old constable from a Northern Region command was issued a court attendance notice for the offence of negligent driving.
