Western Australia has achieved a remarkable success at the recent national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, which were announced in Fremantle. The state's tourism businesses proudly took home a total of 16 medals, showcasing excellence across various categories and highlighting the region's diverse attractions and services.
Gold Medal Winners
Leading the charge, the Gourmet Camp Oven Experience secured two gold medals. One was awarded in the Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services category, while another recognized its Excellence in Food Tourism. Additionally, the Swan Valley Visitor Centre earned a gold medal for Visitor Information Services, underscoring its commitment to enhancing tourist experiences.
Silver Medal Achievements
Several WA businesses were honored with silver medals, demonstrating strong performance in key areas. The WA Museum Boola Bardip received silver for Major Tourist Attractions, while Albany’s Historic Whaling Station was recognized in Cultural Tourism. Other silver winners included Broadwater Resort in Busselton for 3 to 3.5 Star Accommodation, Mandalay Holiday Resort for Caravan and Holiday Parks, Oolin Sunday Island Cultural Tours for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experiences, Subi Blooms x Gather for Festivals and Events, and Willie Creek Pearls for Tourism Retail, Hire and Services.
Bronze Medal Recipients
Bronze medals were awarded to a range of innovative and accessible tourism offerings. Albany’s Historic Whaling Station added another accolade in Tourist Attractions, and HeliSpirit was honored for Major Tour and Transport Operators. Margaret River Discovery Co received bronze for Tour and Transport Operators, while Off The Beaten Track WA was recognized for Excellence in Accessible Tourism. The Wadjemup/Rottnest Island “A Little Longer” Campaign earned bronze in Tourism Marketing and Campaigns, and Wooleen Station was celebrated for Hosted Accommodation.
