Geelong's skyline is set for a dramatic transformation with the announcement that bookings are now officially open for the city's highly anticipated $120 million Crowne Plaza hotel development on the waterfront.
The 12-storey luxury accommodation marks a significant milestone in Geelong's ongoing urban renewal, bringing international-standard hospitality to the heart of the city's most prized location.
A New Era for Geelong Tourism
The 152-room hotel is scheduled to welcome its first guests in March 2025, creating approximately 150 ongoing jobs for the local community during both construction and operational phases. This development represents one of the most substantial private investments in Geelong's hospitality sector in recent years.
Located at 2-18 Brougham Street, the hotel will occupy a prime position overlooking Corio Bay, placing guests within walking distance of Geelong's key attractions including the Cunningham Pier, CBD shopping precinct, and the iconic Waterfront precinct.
Development manager Tim McDougall from Pro-invest Group confirmed the project remains on track despite global construction challenges. "We're delighted to reach this exciting milestone where the community can now officially book their stay," Mr McDougall stated.
World-Class Amenities for Business and Leisure
The Crowne Plaza Geelong will feature comprehensive facilities designed to cater to both corporate and leisure travellers. The hotel will include a signature restaurant and bar, fully-equipped gym, and multiple meeting spaces capable of hosting events for up to 300 people.
Additional amenities will include:
- 152 modern guest rooms including suites
- State-of-the-art conference and event facilities
- Premium waterfront dining experiences
- Fitness centre with bay views
- Business centre services
The development is part of Pro-invest Group's broader $200 million investment in the Australian hospitality market, demonstrating strong confidence in Geelong's growing tourism economy.
Economic Boost for the Region
City of Greater Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan described the project as a "game-changer" for the region's visitor economy. "This world-class accommodation will attract more business events, conferences, and luxury travellers to our city," Mayor Sullivan said.
The hotel is expected to generate significant flow-on benefits for local businesses, including restaurants, retail outlets, and tourism operators throughout the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast regions.
With construction progressing steadily, the opening of Crowne Plaza Geelong in March 2025 positions the city to capture growing domestic and international tourism markets, particularly as travel continues to rebound post-pandemic.
Prospective guests can now make advance bookings through the official Crowne Plaza website or via major travel platforms, with special opening rates expected to generate strong interest from early adopters.
