A Karratha resident is in for a life-changing Christmas surprise, with a chance to uncover a hidden treasure worth a cool five thousand dollars. The exciting 'Golden Horseshoe Hunt' is now underway, offering a festive financial boost to one lucky local.
The $5,000 Christmas Treasure Hunt
In a unique partnership, equestrian influencer Kate Redmond and lifestyle brand Horsey People have joined forces to launch a real-world treasure hunt in the heart of the Pilbara. The prize is a substantial $5,000 cash, designed to provide extra holiday spending money at a perfect time.
Known online to her 500,000 followers as My Pilbara Equestrian Life, Kate Redmond has taken on the role of 'treasure master'. She personally hid a distinctive golden horseshoe at a top-secret location within Karratha on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
How to Hunt for the Golden Horseshoe
For Karratha locals eager to win, the hunt is on. A series of clues teasing the horseshoe's whereabouts will be posted on Kate Redmond's Facebook and Instagram accounts in the lead-up to December 25th. Participants must follow the digital trail these clues provide to locate the physical prize.
The rules are simple: the first person to find the golden horseshoe before Christmas Eve claims the $5,000 prize. To ensure fairness and prevent cheating, each hidden horseshoe in the national campaign is fitted with a GPS tracker and a unique verification code.
"I'm honoured to be part of giving someone in our community a huge $5k before Christmas," Ms Redmond said. "I'm sure it will go a long way at this time of year and I hope someone that could really do with the extra cash finds it. What a way to end the year!"
Spreading Cheer in Regional Communities
The Karratha hunt is part of a larger national initiative, with other golden horseshoes also hidden in major cities including the Gold Coast, Sydney, and Brisbane. The company behind the concept, Horsey People, specialises in country lifestyle and equestrian products.
Menashe Segman, founder and director of Horsey People, explained the motivation behind the festive campaign. "Through our ongoing partnership with Farm Angels we support farming families year-round, however we wanted to create something that also brings a bit of joy and excitement to the community," Mr Segman said.
"The Golden Horseshoe Hunt is our way of saying thank you to the people who support us and of spreading some Christmas cheer," he added, highlighting the company's commitment to supporting regional and rural Australians.
To participate, Karratha residents aged 18 and over need to follow both Kate Redmond (My Pilbara Equestrian Life) and Horsey People on social media, keep a close eye on the clue posts, and be ready to explore their city. Will you be the one to find the golden ticket to a merrier Christmas?
