Gina Rinehart Gifts $30k in Food Vouchers to Bunbury, Vasse Shoppers
Rinehart's $30k Christmas Voucher Giveaway for WA Shoppers

Mining billionaire Gina Rinehart is spreading festive cheer in regional Western Australia this Christmas, turning her attention from iron ore to fresh produce. The Hancock Prospecting chairwoman is funding a special one-day voucher giveaway for shoppers at the popular Bunbury Farmers Market.

A Christmas Tradition of Giving

The exclusive offer is available only on Christmas Eve, December 24. Shoppers who spend more than $100 in a single transaction at either the Bunbury or Vasse Village store locations will receive a $10 voucher to use on their next visit. This initiative is a festive tradition the businesswoman says she deeply enjoys.

"It’s lovely to see happy faces return each year to support local growers and producers," Ms Rinehart said. She explained that the vouchers serve a dual purpose: thanking families for shopping locally and recognising the hard work of farmers.

Supporting Families and Farmers

With the rising cost of living putting pressure on household budgets, the gesture is timed to provide practical help. "With the cost of food continuing to rise, this initiative also helps families stretch their grocery budget while choosing fresh, local produce for the Christmas table," Rinehart stated.

She also highlighted the challenges faced by Australian agriculturalists. "Local growers continue to face rising costs and worsening conditions, especially as net zero becomes more onerous to comply with, and electricity prices more expensive," she said. "Choosing Australian farm produce to help the farmers is more important than ever."

A Significant Festive Contribution

This year's Christmas Eve giveaway is expected to see more than $30,000 in vouchers distributed across the two stores. This continues a pattern of generous support from the mining magnate, who has donated more than $50,000 to the Bunbury Farmers Market since 2023.

The vouchers are strictly an in-store promotion for the 24th of December and cannot be used online. In her Christmas message, Rinehart concluded, "Merry Christmas to our farmers and to all — thank you for shopping at my favourite farm fresh produce stores, both in Bunbury and Vasse."
