Craig Roberts, the GoFundMe organizer and a colleague of Northey, shared a personal note expressing the collective grief. He wrote that on Sunday, April 12th, they lost one of the nicest individuals anyone could ever meet. Roberts recounted that Grant Northey had gone out for a quick motorbike ride and coffee with a friend but never returned home, having been struck by a car on Mount Tamborine road.
The fundraiser eloquently described Northey as someone who lived life with a passion for the open road, yet his greatest passion was unequivocally for his family. Friends and fellow riders have shared memories of him as a kind, respected, and much-loved figure, with many expressing shock at his sudden passing. One tribute noted that there would be endless reminders of Northey on future riding adventures, while others called him a gentleman in every sense of the word.
