The second major phase of a massive $380 million overhaul at Kardinya Park Shopping Centre is now complete, delivering a significant boost to retail, dining, and parking for Perth's southern suburbs.
New Parking, Dining, and Wellness Hub Unveiled
Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti was scheduled to formally open the $65 million second stage on Wednesday, 4 December 2025. The key upgrades include a new signalised entry from South Street leading directly into a modern, three-level undercover car park. This addition provides 550 new parking bays, with 360 of those undercover, aiming to ease congestion for shoppers.
Beyond parking, the stage introduces a dedicated wellness precinct housing various health and medical services. The fresh food and dining offerings have been substantially expanded, complementing a significantly larger Coles supermarket. The new-look Coles now spans an impressive 3790 square metres, offering a vastly improved grocery experience.
A Long-Term Vision for a Mixed-Use Community Hub
This stage follows the initial 2023 works, which delivered a new fuel station and access road to North Lake Road. Property owner Dato Holdings has a clear vision to transform the site into a leading mixed-use precinct. Future plans, dependent on market conditions and feasibility, include a hospitality-led expansion, a childcare centre, and residential apartments rising up to eight storeys.
Dato Holdings director Con Berbatis expressed gratitude to tenants and customers, stating, "Stage two’s completion highlights our commitment to delivering the level of integrated commercial amenity that Kardinya Park Shopping Centre deserves."
Tenant Excitement and Operational Success
New tenants are set to arrive in the coming year, including popular eateries like Flames Burger and Grill and Hanoi Corner, alongside FAST Emergency Care and several allied health providers. Steven Cuzens, Ray White Commercial WA director of client services, highlighted the challenge of managing the centre through the redevelopment. "We maintained full operations and strong tenant relationships while preparing the centre for its next stage of growth," Cuzens said.
The successful delivery of stage two marks a pivotal moment for Kardinya Park, solidifying its evolution from a traditional shopping centre into a comprehensive community destination offering retail, services, dining, and future residential living.
