An Australian reusable drinkware brand has successfully tapped into a wave of childhood nostalgia and emotional comfort, creating a sell-out sensation. Frank Green's highly anticipated capsule collection with global icon Hello Kitty and her Sanrio friends has officially launched, merging functional design with beloved characters.
A Fusion of Comfort, Style, and Sustainability
The collaboration between the Australian company and the Japanese Sanrio empire is more than just a branding exercise. It represents a deep understanding of the cross-generational appeal of characters like Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll. For decades, the "Kawaii" aesthetic—centred on cuteness and emotional connection—has fostered a loyal global fanbase.
Frank Green's founder and CEO, Benjamin Young, explained the synergy. "So many of us have fallen in love with these characters. At frank green we studied every detail to honour Sanrio’s world and bring it to life on our products people use every day," he said. He emphasised that the partnership aligns with Sanrio’s founding belief in sharing happiness and friendship, mirroring Frank Green's goal to bring joy to its customers.
Meet the Limited-Edition Designs
The capsule collection features two product lines across three distinct character designs, promising to turn everyday hydration into a personal style statement.
The Hello Kitty design offers a classic, kind-hearted look. The 34oz/1L Ceramic Reusable Bottle is priced at AU$74.95, while the matching 12oz/355ml Ceramic Reusable Coffee Cup costs AU$54.95. Both feature her signature red bow and playful icons, with triple-wall insulation to keep drinks at the perfect temperature for hours or even days.
The Kuromi edition presents a bold, light purple stainless steel bottle with mischievous detailing, retailing for the same AU$74.95. It's described as a design that is bold on the outside but soft-hearted within.
The Cinnamoroll bottle, also AU$74.95, aims to be a cozy companion. Its soothing blue and white colour scheme is designed to ease everyday anxiety, making hydration a more enjoyable ritual. All products are BPA free and FDA approved.
Why This Collab is a Retail Hit
This launch capitalises on two major trends: the rise of the "emotional support water bottle" as a personal accessory and the enduring power of nostalgic brands. By applying Sanrio's characters to its high-performance, reusable bottles and cups, Frank Green has created products that are both functional and deeply personal.
"Our customers use reusables as part of their personal style," continued CEO Benjamin Young. "Hello Kitty and Friends lets them show who they are while doing good for the planet - fun, personal and proudly reusable."
With prices starting from just $54.95, the collection was positioned for broad appeal. The strategic release has proven successful, with the highly-anticipated collection quickly selling out online, demonstrating the powerful combination of Australian design innovation and Japanese pop culture charm.
