Disney Store Pop-Up Opens at Lakeside Joondalup with Exclusive Perth Merchandise
Disney enthusiasts are expected to gather in large numbers at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City this weekend for the highly anticipated opening of the Disney Store Pop-Up, which has returned to Perth for a limited engagement. The store is set to open at 9am on Saturday, with significant queues anticipated well before the doors open as families eagerly await access to new merchandise unavailable elsewhere in Australia.
Exclusive Merchandise and Toy Collections
Disney has committed to offering a wide array of toys from beloved films such as The Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, and Toy Story, alongside Disney princess merchandise and innovative Mickey Mouse-inspired decor. New items include mugs, tableware, and soft furnishings, providing fans with unique homeware options.
Perth shoppers will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase the Toy Story Buzz Lightyear sports jersey before it becomes available anywhere else in the country. Additionally, the store will feature plushies and keychains showcasing characters ranging from Lucifer to Bambi and Perry the Platypus, sourced directly from Disney's Japan store.
Special Features and Anniversary Celebrations
The pop-up will also introduce Disney Parks collectables, with new weekly Pin Trading releases, as well as fresh apparel, accessories, and homewares inspired by iconic attractions. Disney Store Australia's Alex Lord expressed excitement about the store's offerings, noting that it caters to a diverse audience.
"It's always great to see the big smiles," Ms Lord remarked. "Everyone gravitates towards something different. We had an adorable little girl who really loved Minnie Mouse and obviously came in and was drawn by that. And then we had a family who really loved Pixar, and was very excited to discover that Lotso from Toy Story actually smells like strawberries."
Beyond toys, Disney is marking several significant anniversaries, including Pixar Studios' 40th anniversary, Toy Story's 30th anniversary, and the 60th anniversary of the It's A Small World ride. A notable highlight is a photo opportunity with Sully from Monsters Inc, enhancing the interactive experience for visitors.
Star Wars Day and Upcoming Disney Releases
The store will also celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, with a range of exclusive products launching in Perth for fans to enjoy. Ms Lord emphasized the difficulty in pinpointing the most popular toy, as the store offers something for everyone, from adult collectors adding to their pin collections to children seeking special plush toys.
This year is particularly exciting for Disney fans, with a robust movie slate scheduled for 2026. Key releases include Toy Story 5 on June 19, The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22, and Pixar's Hoppers on March 6. Other anticipated projects feature a live-action Moana on July 10 and Hexed on November 25, with Ice Age 6 expected later in the year.
