Cairns robbery: Woman sought after knife attack

Queensland Police have launched a public appeal to locate a woman following a violent armed robbery in Cairns, where an employee was allegedly slashed with a knife.

Violent Confrontation at Earlville Business

The frightening incident unfolded around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 9, at a business located on the Bruce Highway in Earlville. According to police reports, a woman entered the premises and became involved in a confrontation with a staff member.

The situation escalated dramatically when the woman allegedly produced a knife. During the ensuing altercation, the employee, a man in his 40s, was slashed with the weapon. The woman then fled the scene, reportedly taking a quantity of cash with her.

Police Search for Suspect

The injured employee was treated at the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics for a laceration. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening.

Far North District Criminal Investigation Branch officers have now released a description of the woman they wish to speak to in connection with the alleged robbery and assault. She is described as having a solid build and blonde hair.

At the time of the incident, she was wearing distinctive clothing, including a black t-shirt featuring the word "Riot" across the chest, black three-quarter length pants, and white shoes.

Appeal for Public Assistance

Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident or the woman's whereabouts to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the Earlville area around the time of the robbery and may have witnessed suspicious activity.
