Quantum Graphite's Oman Refinery Plan Advances Global Supply Chain Strategy

Quantum Graphite's initiative to transform its historic Uley flake graphite mine into a key player in the global supply chain has achieved a significant milestone with offshore developments in the Middle East. The company's downstream technology partner, Sunlands Pure Group, has secured local government support in Oman, marking a pivotal step forward.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed for Major Refinery Project

Sunlands Pure Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Governorate of Al Buraimi in Oman. This agreement outlines plans for a large-scale graphite refinery and associated support activities on a land parcel exceeding 240 hectares in Buraimi, located approximately 60 kilometres from Sohar Port, Oman's primary commercial hub.

The proposed facility is designed to purify and package natural flake graphite for international customers, targeting markets such as lithium-ion battery anodes, isostatic graphite, and thermal energy storage. This move aligns with Oman Vision 2040, recognizing the refinery as a strategic project and designating Quantum Graphite as a critical partner for the exclusive supply of flake graphite to Sunlands' downstream operations.

Formal Support and Development Pathway Established

The MoU formalizes ongoing support from the Governorate of Al Buraimi and establishes a clear pathway to accelerate the project's development. Quantum Graphite has indicated that an update on exclusive downstream arrangements, overall financing, and progress at its Uley-2 operation near Port Lincoln in South Australia is expected within the next two weeks.

This development in Oman coincides with Sunlands Energy, Quantum's joint venture partner, securing an additional United States patent. The patent expands claims around its thermal energy storage graphite cell technology, broadening its scope to include more heat-transfer fluid options and flexible heating methods.

Momentum Builds for Downstream Processing and Energy Storage

For investors, the new agreement serves as a strong signal that Quantum Graphite's downstream processing and energy storage ambitions are gaining momentum alongside the development of its Uley-2 project. If the anticipated funding and offtake details materialize as planned, Quantum could soon establish a seamless supply chain from South Australian resources to international end-markets.

This strategic move underscores the company's commitment to enhancing its global relevance in the graphite industry, leveraging partnerships and technological advancements to drive growth and market penetration.
