Noronex Expands Copper-Silver Horizon in Namibia with New Drill Results
Noronex Limited has announced significant new copper-silver intercepts at its Powerline project in Namibia, further extending prospective mineralised zones within the expansive Humpback-Damara project area. The company's ongoing 7,000-metre drilling program, funded by major partner South32, continues to deliver encouraging results that highlight the potential of this under-explored region of the Kalahari Copper Belt.
Standout Drill Results and Program Progress
A particularly notable drill hole intersected 4 metres of mineralisation grading 0.58 per cent copper and 69 grams per tonne silver from a depth of 203 metres. This result forms part of the extensive drilling campaign that has now completed approximately 5,300 metres across 23 holes at the Steenbok, Qembo, and Zambinda prospect domes along the northern edge of the Kalahari Copper Belt.
Drilling operations have concluded at the Steenbok and Qembo prospects, with the rig now actively testing the Zambinda area to the east. The company reports that these new intercepts continue to align with the targeted D'Kar-NPF geological contact, reinforcing the horizon's promise across anticline limbs and closures, suggesting the presence of a substantial mineralised system.
Steenbok Prospect Shows Broad Mineralisation
At the Steenbok prospect, drilling returned lower grades but across wider intervals, including one hole on the southern limb that intersected 9 metres grading 0.24 per cent copper and 29g/t silver. This intercept connected with an earlier mineralised zone located approximately 850 metres to the north, confirming continuity and supporting extensions along the geological contact.
Noronex's structural modelling continues to identify Steenbok as a priority area for follow-up expansion, with the company planning to step out from recent drill results to pursue continuity along strike and into magnetically identified flexures.
Management Commentary and Strategic Context
"These additional intercepts at Qembo and Steenbok are highly encouraging, confirming copper-silver mineralisation along the targeted D'Kar-NPF contact and strengthening our confidence in the geological model," stated Noronex managing director and CEO Victor Rajasooriar.
The company's exploration efforts gain additional significance amid record-high copper and silver prices in recent weeks. Noronex maintains a substantial position in what is considered one of the most under-explored sections of the Kalahari Copper Belt, spanning both Namibia and Botswana.
Partnership with South32 and Future Outlook
Through a recent earn-in agreement with mining major South32, the partner can secure a 60 per cent stake in the project by funding $4 million annually for up to five years across Noronex's Humpback-Damara grounds in Namibia and its Cgae Cgae leases in Botswana. Noronex continues to manage all on-ground exploration operations.
The company is pursuing extensive geological contacts that mirror major operations within the belt, such as the 370 million tonne Khoemacau mine and the Banana Zone's 150 million tonnes at 0.93 per cent copper. While Noronex currently holds a 10 million tonne resource grading 1.3 per cent copper across its Witvlei and Dordabis projects in Namibia, the search continues for a deposit of significant scale.
With approximately half of the drilling program completed and the geological model holding firm, Noronex appears to be making steady progress alongside its major partner, actively pursuing what could become the next substantial deposit within the prolific Kalahari Copper Belt.
