Imdex Acquires ALT and Mount Sopris in $99m Global Tech Expansion
Imdex buys overseas tech firms in $99m deal

In a major strategic move, Perth-based mining technology leader Imdex has announced a significant international expansion, acquiring two overseas specialist firms for a combined value of €55.8 million (approximately $98.9 million).

A Transformative Deal for Global Leadership

The company will integrate Luxembourg-based Advanced Logic Technology (ALT) and its US subsidiary, Mount Sopris Instruments (MSI). Imdex's managing director, Paul House, described the transaction as a transformative step that solidifies the company's position as a global frontrunner in digital earth knowledge and subsurface intelligence.

"By integrating ALT’s world-class sensors and WellCAD software package, and MSI’s market-leading borehole geophysical equipment with Imdex’s ecosystem, we are uniquely positioned to deliver value to our customers across the mining, civil, and energy sectors," Mr House stated. He emphasised that combining these technologies with Imdex's existing global client networks unlocks substantial growth synergies for both customers and shareholders.

Performance-Linked Components and Tech Synergies

The acquisition, finalised on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, includes two performance-linked deferred consideration components. The first is tied to the successful deployment of new technology being developed by ALT across several trials. The second establishes a revenue-sharing framework for hardware and software licence sales and rentals. These performance-linked payments are collectively capped at €20 million.

This deal accelerates Imdex's strategy to create a unified, open platform for earth systems data, which the company believes will support smarter and faster decision-making for its clients worldwide.

Deep Histories of Innovation

The acquired companies bring decades of specialised expertise to Imdex. ALT, founded in 1993, is a recognised global leader in high-performance downhole rock property sensor systems and geoscience data processing software. Its flagship WellCAD software suite is crucial for managing, visualising, and interpreting downhole geophysical data.

Mount Sopris Instruments, based in Colorado, USA, boasts a history spanning more than 70 years. It is a leading US manufacturer and distributor of geophysical equipment and software used for detailed subsurface investigations.

This strategic acquisition marks a significant investment by the West Australian firm in advanced mining and exploration technology, positioning it to offer an unparalleled integrated service from its Perth headquarters to a global market.
