ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a truck crash that occurred at the Glenloch Interchange on Monday, causing significant disruptions to traffic flow. The incident took place around 11:30 am when a truck reportedly lost control and collided with a barrier, leading to a partial road closure.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, where the truck was found blocking two lanes of the interchange. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Queanbeyan, was treated for minor injuries and taken to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition. Police have confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Authorities are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the crash to come forward. The Glenloch Interchange is a major thoroughfare in the ACT, and the crash caused significant delays during the lunchtime period.
Investigation Underway
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, with early indications suggesting that speed and road conditions may have been contributing factors. The truck, which was carrying a load of building materials, sustained extensive damage. The load was safely secured by emergency crews before the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police have urged motorists to check their dashcam footage from the time of the incident. Any footage or information can be provided to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
Traffic Impacts
The crash led to the closure of two northbound lanes for several hours, causing traffic to bank up along the Tuggeranong Parkway and surrounding roads. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. The lanes were reopened by late afternoon after the truck was removed and the road surface was cleaned.
ACT Policing has thanked the public for their patience during the disruption and reiterated the importance of safe driving practices, particularly on high-speed interchanges.
