Crace Man Charged with Drug Trafficking and Firearm Offences

A 23-year-old man from the Canberra suburb of Crace has been arrested and charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearm offences following a police operation on Wednesday.

Police Search Uncovers Drugs and Weapons

Officers from ACT Policing executed a search warrant at a residence on Gungahlin Drive in Crace around 11 am. During the search, police allegedly located a significant quantity of illicit drugs, including methylamphetamine and cannabis, as well as a firearm and ammunition.

The man was taken into custody and later charged with trafficking a controlled drug, possessing a prohibited firearm, and possessing ammunition without a license. He was also charged with possessing a substance believed to be used in the manufacture of drugs.

Court Appearance

The accused appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody. He did not apply for bail and will next appear in court in June.

Detective Acting Inspector Shane Scott said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply in the Canberra region. “This arrest demonstrates our commitment to targeting those who seek to profit from the sale of illicit drugs in our community,” he said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not ruled out further charges.
