Emergency crews are responding to a serious incident at Parafield Airport in Adelaide's north after a plane crashed into a hangar, sparking a large fire and sending a thick plume of smoke over nearby suburbs.
Incident Details
The alarm was raised at 2.11pm, with MFS and CFS firefighters rushing to the airport following reports a light aircraft had hit a large shed at the airport. On arrival, crews reported a 'significant' amount of smoke.
A towering column of black smoke is visible from kilometres away, with residents across the northern suburbs reporting the plume drifting across the skyline.
Casualties and Response
There is no confirmation yet of injuries nor how many people were on board the aircraft. Motorists in the area are being urged to avoid Kings Rd due to emergency vehicle activity and reduced visibility from smoke. The immediate area has been evacuated as emergency services deal with the incident.
