The body of missing magician Daniel Hidden, 26, was discovered around 11am on Wednesday following an extensive search and rescue operation in bushland at Mount Cougal National Park in Currumbin Valley, Gold Coast hinterland.
Search and Discovery
Hidden's silver Hyundai Santa Fe and Galaxy caravan were found parked near Currumbin Creek Rd on June 16, two days after he was last seen leaving a Broadbeach address about 3am on June 14. The discovery triggered a large-scale multi-agency search involving over 100 personnel, including police, SES volunteers, Queensland Fire Department crews, Rural Fire Service volunteers, Polair, and drone operators. Australian Defence Force personnel joined the operation on Tuesday as authorities expanded efforts across the rugged and densely vegetated terrain.
Family Appeal and Investigation
Search headquarters were established near where the vehicle was found. Hidden's family remained at the search site throughout the operation and had earlier made an emotional public appeal for his safe return. Police have stated that his death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Hidden's death are ongoing.
