A Canadian man is recovering in hospital after suffering a brain bleed, fractured skull, and spinal injuries in a brutal attack by five strangers in the popular tourist town of Byron Bay, New South Wales.
Attack in Park Near Main Beach
The 28-year-old victim had been drinking in a park near the main beach with five males, who were unknown to him, when the assault occurred at approximately 11:40 pm on Sunday. Police believe two of the attackers are teenagers aged 16 or 17.
The man managed to escape into nearby bushland before flagging down a passing police vehicle. Officers performed first aid before he was rushed to Byron Bay Hospital and later transferred to Tweed Valley Hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police Investigation Underway
No arrests have been made, but police are actively investigating the incident. They are appealing for anyone with information, dashcam footage, or phone recordings from the area at the time to come forward.
