Four-year-old girl killed in Perth crash remembered as angel

The heartbroken family of a little girl killed in a two-car crash are remembering her as a 'beautiful angel'. A community has been left in mourning after four-year-old Layna Leavy died in the horrific smash in Perth's southeast on Wednesday.

'Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces,' her mother said in a tribute online. 'Four years on this earth was never long enough. I hope you felt nothing but love in your life and loved every single adventure we went on. I hope you continue to sing and dance in the sky and forever in our hearts.'

Layna was a passenger in a Holden Astra that collided with a Ford Mustang at the intersection of Boardman Road and Garden Street in Canning Vale. Witnesses to the 3:15 pm tragedy rushed to help before she was taken by ambulance to Fiona Stanley Hospital. Sadly, she could not be saved.

Mother and brother injured

Her mother and eight-year-old brother were also inside the hatchback. They were also taken to the same hospital but have since been discharged. The Mustang driver, a 29-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

Community tribute

A memorial at the intersection has bloomed for little Layna, with devastated community members leaving flowers, teddy bears and dolls. 'It honestly breaks our hearts. We have little kids at home, so we're honestly like holding our little ones really tight last night,' one local resident said of the tragedy.

Major Crash has appealed for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
