Perth Glory Announce Mid-Season Squad Changes with Gomulka Departure and Majekodunmi Loan
Perth Glory have officially confirmed the exit of fringe midfielder Taras Gomulka and a temporary loan move for young defender Kaelan Majekodunmi, as part of a broader mid-season squad overhaul. The club announced on Sunday that Gomulka's contract has been mutually terminated, allowing him to pursue opportunities in Canada, while Majekodunmi has joined NPL Victoria side Dandenong Thunder on loan.
Details of the Departures
Taras Gomulka, who featured in 22 games over a season-and-a-half with Perth Glory, has not taken to the pitch in the current A-League Men's season. Similarly, centre-back Kaelan Majekodunmi, who made 15 appearances since debuting in 2024, has also been absent from match action this year. Their exits follow the recent departure of Luke Amos to K League 2 side Paju Frontier, bringing the total number of players to have left Glory during the mid-season transfer window to seven.
Broader Squad Reshuffle
The mid-season changes at Perth Glory include several key moves:
- Promising midfielder Rhys Bozinovski was sold to Dutch top-flight club Heracles Almelo earlier this month.
- Contracts for Luke Amos, Taras Gomulka, and Nathanael Blair (who joined Central Coast Mariners) have been terminated.
- Kaelan Majekodunmi, Khoa Ngo (loaned to Cong An Ho Chi Minh City), and Adam Bugarija (loaned to Marconi Stallions) have departed on temporary deals.
Club Statements on the Moves
Perth Glory director of football Stan Lazaridis expressed gratitude for the contributions of the departing players. "Luke and Taras had not been getting first-team game-time this season and they now have the opportunity to open new chapters in their careers overseas," he said. Regarding Majekodunmi, Lazaridis added, "It's a similar situation for Kaelan who will now be able to get match minutes under his belt in the NPL Victoria, which is exactly what he needs at this stage of his development. We will continue to monitor his progress with Dandenong closely."
After Perth Glory's 3-1 loss to Newcastle Jets on Friday night, coach Adam Griffiths commented on Amos's departure, noting that he "had struggled to get his fitness levels up to the requirements, and he wanted to pursue other options." This highlights the club's focus on optimizing squad performance and player development during the ongoing season.
