Jeremy Williams Prepares for Crucial Fortnight in Captain's Diary
Jeremy Williams' Crucial Fortnight Prep in Captain's Diary

Western Force star Jeremy Williams has opened up on his preparations ahead of a crucial fortnight for his side in the latest edition of his Captain's Diary.

Sunday

After a good win over the Queensland Reds and celebration of a few milestones, Sunday was relaxed. I got breakfast with a few of the boys, and then I did a little bit of game review in the afternoon, but I like to keep Sunday non-rugby related to decompress a bit.

Monday

This was the usual Monday, tapering down a little bit and finishing around 2:30pm. We get our reviews done, then a bit of lower body gym work and a bit of preview of the upcoming team.

In our leaders meeting, the main message to deliver was we've got two regular season games and then finals. It's about not trying to get ahead of ourselves. It's one week at a time. We've got to win every game to get into finals. It's not about putting the pressure on but realising the position we're in and that we need to be really diligent about our preparation to get the performance we want on the weekend.

In the team meeting, we had a young lad who'd unfortunately hurt his neck in a spinal injury playing for North Coast in a game of rugby. He came in and read out the team and who was going to be playing this weekend. It was a cool experience for him in Kids Round and also cool for us to get him in and show him training across the day.

Tuesday

Tuesday is our big day. It's contact heavy. You get in there, do all your normal contact as well as quite a high running load. Bit of units, upper body gym. Finish in the afternoon.

We recognised Kurtley Beale too ahead of his 186th cap, making him outright third in Super Rugby history. After all the hard work and dedication he's put into his craft throughout his playing career, it's a credit to him. It's a massive achievement.

Wednesday

Day off. Cruisy morning. Popped into the club for a bit and I ended up having a Wallabies promotion in the afternoon, with a few photos at Elizabeth Quay and Cottesloe Beach. I also featured on the Cott Morning Report Instagram too, which was cool. Pretty heavy day on the media side of things.

Thursday

Big day. This is like a simulation of the game. The speed is quite intense. We try to simulate the things that might happen in the game. We go through our kick-offs and exit stuff with defence. We'll go through some opposition plays that they frequently use, so gameday isn't the first time we see that.

It's all about accuracy on Thursday. All the work is done now. Everyone is clear on their role and knows what they need to do. It's a matter of going out there and doing it.
