Canberra Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh can breathe a sigh of relief after learning his fate from the NRL match review committee, but the same cannot be said for teammate Simi Sasagi, who faces an anxious wait over a shoulder injury.
The match review committee handed down its charges on Monday morning following the Raiders' 30-18 defeat to the Penrith Panthers. Horsburgh was placed on report twice during the game—first for a tackle on Moses Leota in the 20th minute, and later for a tackle on Dylan Edwards late in the contest.
However, the MRC only charged Horsburgh for the first incident. The careless high tackle drew an $1800 fine if he takes an early plea. It was the only charge stemming from the match.
Meanwhile, star back-rower Simi Sasagi was ruled out of the round 10 clash in the first half due to a shoulder injury. Raiders medical staff attempted to strap the injury at halftime, but a decision was ultimately made that he would not return to the field. Sasagi is scheduled to undergo scans on his left shoulder this week to determine the extent of the damage.
The Raiders will be hoping for positive news on Sasagi, who has been a key contributor this season. His potential absence would be a significant blow to the side as they look to bounce back from the loss to the Panthers.
More to come.
