The Queensland Racing Carnival is gaining momentum on the Seven Network, delivering some of Australia’s most highly anticipated race days live and free to audiences. Events such as the Ladbrokes Doomben 10,000 Day, Channel 7 Queensland Oaks Day, and Ladbrokes Stradbroke Day will be broadcast on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Glen Boss joins Seven's racing team
In a major boost for racing enthusiasts, Seven’s premier commentary lineup has been strengthened by the addition of Australian Racing Hall of Famer Glen Boss. Known affectionately as “Bossy,” he grew up in Beaudesert before embarking on an illustrious racing career. His deep connection to Queensland racing will provide viewers with unparalleled insights during Seven’s coverage of the XXXX Doomben Cup Day, Sky Racing Queensland Derby Day, Ladbrokes Stradbroke Day, and the Tattersall’s Tiara.
Boss retired from thoroughbred racing in 2021 with an impressive record of 90 Group 1 wins, including three consecutive Melbourne Cups aboard Makybe Diva, four Cox Plate victories, and two Golden Slipper wins.
He will join Seven’s expert thoroughbred racing team, which includes Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Lizzie Jelfs, and Katie McDonald. Together, they will bring fans all the action trackside from Doomben and Eagle Farm throughout the Queensland Racing Carnival.
In addition to Queensland coverage, Seven will also broadcast elite-level racing from Melbourne and Sydney, including events at Flemington, Randwick, Rosehill, and Caulfield.
Boss excited to join Seven
Glen Boss expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Seven stable for the upcoming carnival. “Having spent plenty of time with the team over the years, I can’t wait to join Seven’s line-up of racing experts for the 2026 Queensland Racing Carnival,” Boss said.
“The Queensland Racing Carnival is up there with the very best on the Australian racing calendar. The quality of racing and atmosphere at the major race days at Doomben and Eagle Farm are in a league of their own. While Victoria and New South Wales might dominate plenty of the headlines, Queensland knows how to put on a carnival like no other. Viewers are set for back-to-back weeks of unbelievable winter racing, before the preparation for the Spring begins. I can’t wait to get started.”
Seven's head of racing comments
Seven’s Head of Horse Racing, Joel Starcevic, said: “The Queensland Racing Carnival sees elite level Group 1 Racing take to the screens of Seven once again, starting with Doomben 10,000 Day this Saturday and finishing with the Tatts Tiara on June 27 – the final Australian Group 1 race of the 2025/26 season.
“We’re thrilled to bring fans all the thoroughbred racing action with our all-star commentary team, including the addition of an icon of Australian horse racing in Glen Boss. One of the greatest jockeys of all time and a natural fit to the team, Glen will add another layer of expertise to our coverage to give fans an even greater insight into the Queensland Carnival, from the man who knows Queensland racing best.”
