Italian Stallion Shines in Mandurah Debut

In a commanding display of speed and agility, the greyhound Italian Stallion made a spectacular debut over the 400m distance at Mandurah last Friday night. The Jay Jacobson-trained chaser secured a comfortable victory in his Great Western warm-up heat, signalling a serious threat for the upcoming final.

A Commanding Performance

Known primarily for his prowess over the 520m journey at Cannington, Italian Stallion adapted seamlessly to the shorter, more intense 400m race. Launching quickly from box six, he positioned himself at the front of the pack early. After an initial tussle with Toad, Italian Stallion broke clear, establishing a handy lead that he maintained effortlessly. He crossed the finish line two lengths ahead of Aussie Gem, clocking a swift time of 22.51 seconds.

Pole Position for the Final

Following this impressive debut win, Italian Stallion's prospects for the trophy decider have skyrocketed. Drawing the coveted pole position for Friday's final makes him a likely favourite to take out the entire event. The other heat winners on the night were Biscotti Blast and Catch The Feels. Biscotti Blast powered home to overtake Elite Deluxe, winning in 22.62 seconds, while Catch The Feels led her heat from start to finish, securing victory in 22.50 seconds.
