Two men have been left with serious injuries following a motorcycle crash in Townsville on Saturday afternoon, prompting an appeal from police for witnesses to come forward.

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on July 13, 2024, at the intersection of Ross River Road and Nathan Street in the suburb of Mundingburra. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car.

According to police, the motorcycle was traveling west along Ross River Road when it collided with a vehicle that was turning right onto Nathan Street. The impact threw the rider and his pillion passenger from the bike.

Injuries

The male rider, aged 39, sustained critical injuries including multiple fractures and internal trauma. He was rushed to Townsville University Hospital in a serious condition. His passenger, a 34-year-old man, also suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg and arm, and remains hospitalized in a stable condition.

Both men are expected to undergo surgery and will require an extended period of recovery.

Police Appeal

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident to contact them. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of the car involved, who remained at the scene and is assisting with inquiries.
