See This Wins Nowra Puppy Classic; Records Fall at Wagga and Goulburn

Trainer Kristy Sultana received the perfect early birthday present when her greyhound See This took out the prestigious $40,000 Ladbrokes Puppy Classic at Nowra last Sunday. The day before her birthday, Sultana saw See This claim the Group Two feature, leading all the way to defeat Victorian Repeat The Same, with Winsome Rambo, a brother of the winner, finishing third.

See This has now won 12 of his 36 starts and finally secured a Group final victory after contesting the Gosford Gold Cup in January and the Richmond Derby in February. Kristy Sultana is no stranger to Group success, having trained superstar Flying Ricciardo, the 2020 NSW Greyhound of the Year, who featured in numerous Group finals, won the Group One Dapto Megastar and the Group Two Black Top, and from 27 starts won an incredible 22 times with three placings. See This will look to continue his winning form at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Records Tumble

Track records don't fall every day, but last week they tumbled at Wagga Wagga and Goulburn within days of each other. On April 24, the Paul and Pam Braddon-trained Travelling Gem lowered the Goulburn 350m track record with a stunning 19.27-second performance. Three days later, Tiggerlong Bingo, trained by Michael Finn, equalled the long-standing Wagga 320-metre record with a 17.87-second run.

Double Jay for Opetaia

Young trainer Jay Opetaia will have not one but two chances of Group glory on Saturday night, having qualified Red Rock Razzle for the $25,000 Bob Payne Sprint and the fastest qualifier for the $25,000 Ladies Bracelet, Reborn Hostility. Both greyhounds have drawn well, with Red Rock Razzle in box two and Reborn Hostility in box one. Both features have storied histories and have been won by some stars of the track in the past. The Bob Payne has been won by Good Odds Harada, Zipping Kyrgios, Brad Hill Billy, Go Wild Teddy, and How's The Fort, while the Ladies Bracelet has been won by Winifred Bale, Gold Spring, Jessica Casey, Cindeen Shelby, Zipping Bailey, and Miss Splendamiro.
