Fremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir has shared encouraging news regarding ruckman Sean Darcy's recovery from a concussion sustained in a recent match, while strongly indicating that former Collingwood player Mason Cox could make his debut in the highly anticipated western derby.
Sean Darcy's Concussion Recovery Progresses Smoothly
During Friday night's narrow six-point victory over Collingwood at Adelaide Oval, Sean Darcy suffered a heavy concussion that raised immediate concerns for his well-being. The 27-year-old appeared visibly dazed and unsteady as he left the field and later joined teammates in singing the club song, sparking worries among fans and medical staff.
However, Longmuir provided a reassuring update on Monday evening, stating that Darcy has bounced back well over the weekend. "He's entered the protocols and will tick off the boxes as they need," Longmuir explained. "The concussion and the headaches have gone. He's still got a bit of soreness in his neck, but we expect that to resolve itself. We don't think there's any structural damage there."
This injury is particularly disappointing for Darcy, who has faced numerous soft tissue issues in recent seasons, including a trip to Qatar for specialist consultation. His early exit from the game against Collingwood, which propelled Fremantle into second place on the ladder, marks another setback in his career.

Cox has been in exceptional form for Peel Thunder in the WAFL, earning praise from coaches, staff, and even opponents. In a recent match against Claremont, he recorded an impressive 34 hitouts, 19 disposals, and six inside 50s, narrowly missing two goals due to kicking accuracy.
Longmuir confirmed that Cox is firmly in contention for the western derby, noting his readiness and form. "It's definitely a chance to play," Longmuir said. "He's in good form at Peel Thunder, and he'll definitely put his hand up. I don't think there's been any doubt whether he's AFL ready or not; it's been more about the opportunity."
The coach added that Cox was disappointed not to face his former team, Collingwood, but remains eager for any game opportunity. Claremont ruckman Oliver Eastland, who faced Cox, described him as "one of the best" opponents he has ever encountered, highlighting the intensity and challenge Cox brings to the field.
