Perth Traffic Chaos: Heavy Delays on Guildford Road, Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways
Perth Traffic Chaos: Delays on Major Freeways and Roads

Commuters across Perth have been warned to brace for significant delays on Tuesday morning after a series of breakdowns and a crash on major arterial roads. The disruptions have affected drivers on the Mitchell Freeway, Kwinana Freeway, and Guildford Road, causing congestion during the peak morning commute.

Mitchell Freeway Breakdown

Northern suburbs commuters faced delays after a breakdown near Neerabup on the Mitchell Freeway southbound. The left emergency lane was blocked, causing traffic to slow to a crawl near the Burns Beach Road entrance. The breakdown has since been cleared, but Main Roads has urged drivers to "proceed with caution" in the area.

Kwinana Freeway Delays

Drivers heading into the city from Perth's southern suburbs have also encountered delays on the Kwinana Freeway. A breakdown on the Canning Highway exit in Como has affected northbound traffic, with the left emergency lane closed. Traffic is still flowing, but motorists have been advised to remain alert and drive safely.

Further south, another breakdown has caused northbound traffic to back up on the Kwinana Freeway. The right emergency lane is blocked after Anketell Road in Mandogalup, leading to heavy traffic on approach. Drivers are advised to expect delays.

Guildford Road Crash

In the eastern suburbs, a crash on Guildford Road has caused heavy traffic delays near South Guildford. The incident was reported on the westbound lanes at Ivy Street. The crash has since been cleared, but drivers have been warned to expect residual delays.

Nowergup Incident

Finally, in Nowergup, a lone cardboard box in the centre lane of the Lukin Drive entrance onto the Mitchell Freeway southbound has prompted an alert from Main Roads. While it is not causing delays, drivers are reminded to stay alert in the area.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
