Manly Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov has announced he will leave the club, becoming the seventh CEO in just over 11 years. Mestrov, who took the role in 2022, admitted to having 'mixed feelings' about his departure, which the club said comes ahead of his 'next career announcement'.
During his tenure, Mestrov oversaw significant changes, including the high-profile exit of Daly Cherry-Evans, the sacking of club legend Des Hasler as coach, and a power battle with the Fulton family. He also managed negotiations with star fullback Tom Trbojevic, which were completed last week, and stood by under-pressure coach Anthony Seibold.
Off-field, Mestrov helped boost Manly's crowds, with Brookvale Oval regularly selling out. Chairman Scott Penn praised Mestrov for growing commercial revenues, memberships, and ticket sales, and for transforming the club's culture. Former prop Jason King, head of the NRL's integrity unit, is the early favourite to replace Mestrov.
