Scorchers Complete BBL Squad with Brody Couch

Perth Scorchers have finalised their Big Bash League squad for the upcoming season, signing paceman Brody Couch as the 18th and final member. Couch replaces Lance Morris, who is set to undergo back surgery.

The 25-year-old, who was born in the USA but raised in country Victoria, has previously played three BBL seasons with the Melbourne Stars. He earned a Western Australia contract last season and famously took the state's first-ever Sheffield Shield hat-trick exactly one year ago.

Couch said he is looking forward to playing at Optus Stadium, noting the pitch may suit his bowling style. 'It probably suits me a little bit more with my speed, a little bit more pace and bounce which is always fun and exciting,' he said. He plans to learn from experienced teammates in the WA and Scorchers setup to master the ground.

The fast bowler praised the welcoming environment within the WA squad, highlighting strong communication and support from senior players. 'The older guys really want the younger players to succeed,' Couch said.

Couch also reflected on his experience in Major League Cricket with the San Francisco Unicorns, describing it as a valuable opportunity to play overseas and learn from different conditions. He aims to continue playing as much cricket as possible in the evolving short-format landscape.
