The Adelaide 36ers have formally complained to the NBL over comments made by Sydney Kings co-owner and assistant coach Andrew Bogut, which they describe as 'persistent and repeated personal attacks' directed at 36ers owner Grant Kelley.
Reports emerged that Bogut confronted Kelley and made comments about his weight following Adelaide's game two victory. Bogut also shared an image on Twitter implying a likeness between Kelley and Family Guy character Peter Griffin.
In a statement, the 36ers said they stand against body shaming and cyber-bullying. They have notified the NBL of their concerns and will address the matter further with the league and other regulatory authorities during the off-season.
The Kings lead the best-of-five championship series 2-1, with game four scheduled in Adelaide on Wednesday night. The 36ers are seeking their first title since 2002.
Earlier, 36ers coach Mike Wells criticized the officiating in game three, claiming referees allowed Sydney to 'beat up' NBL MVP Bryce Cotton. Wells specifically noted that Matthew Dellavedova had zero fouls despite physical defense on Cotton.
