Socceroos star Jordan Bos, one of the Australian success stories at the World Cup, has undergone surgery on his knee and is set to miss the first three months of the Dutch domestic season with Feyenoord.
Injury and Surgery Details
The Eredivisie club reported on Saturday that the 23-year-old, who was recorded as the World Cup’s quickest player after his first match against Turkey and subsequently impressed until Australia were eliminated in the first knockout round, had a procedure on Saturday.
“Jordan Bos suffered a knee injury in the last World Cup match with his national team,” Feyenoord said. “Bos underwent surgery this morning, and the procedure went well. The expectation is that he will be unavailable for multiple months.”
Though there was no exact time frame in the post, it’s understood the club have ruled out the full-back for at least the first three months of the season.
Bos Responds on Social Media
Bos himself took to Instagram to post, alongside a picture of him in his hospital bed, with the vow: “We’ll be back stronger.” In a more positive outlook he also shared to his Stories a photo of himself standing up with his knee in a brace and crutches under his arms.
World Cup Incident
Bos’s tournament came to an unfortunate clattering end eight days ago in the Round of 32 loss to Egypt. He was the subject of a crude first-half challenge in Dallas from Rami Rabia and ended up being forced out of the game.
The 23-year-old had started all Australia’s matches in the World Cup, but the injury was particularly unfortunate after Bos’s previous run of serious hamstring injuries.
Recent Career Success
Those setbacks didn’t stop him earning a move to the Rotterdam giants last season where he proved a real success, after his move from Belgian club Westerlo.
