West Coast Eagles Dominate Richmond in Top-of-Table Clash

West Coast Eagles have solidified their position as premiership contenders with a commanding 47-point victory over defending champions Richmond at Optus Stadium. The 20.10 (130) to 12.11 (83) win extended the Eagles' winning streak to eight matches, placing them a game clear at the top of the AFL ladder.

Jack Darling was instrumental in the victory, kicking a career-best six goals, while Josh Kennedy added three. Jeremy McGovern also starred in defence, helping to contain Richmond's attack. Despite coach Adam Simpson's earlier dismissal of the match as a grand final preview, the performance has drawn praise from Richmond coach Damien Hardwick, who acknowledged West Coast as the team to beat.

In other round nine action, Melbourne crushed Carlton by 109 points at the MCG, moving into third place on the ladder. The Demons' 25.9 (159) to 7.8 (50) win sent Carlton to the bottom. Brisbane also caused an upset, defeating Hawthorn by 56 points at the Gabba, with Luke Hodge facing his former team for the first time since his move north.
