A 26-year-old Perth woman, accused of a string of 45 criminal offences, is evading authorities after allegedly cutting off her court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet just days before Christmas.
Bail reinstated before alleged breach
Shanika Louise Williams had her home detention bail conditions formally reinstated by an Armadale Magistrate on December 12. The court imposed the strict conditions despite the serious nature of the allegations against her.
However, just eleven days later, on December 23 at around 1pm, Williams is alleged to have removed her ankle monitoring device. This act triggered an immediate response from the specialist Rapid Apprehension Squad, which is now leading the search.
A lengthy list of alleged offences
The alleged breach of bail is the latest development in a significant case. Williams was facing a total of 45 charges at the time she was granted home detention. The offences span a range of serious matters including:
- Multiple counts of stealing
- Assault charges
- Breaches of a violence restraining order (barring notice)
Court records indicate Williams had already entered guilty pleas to 17 separate stealing charges prior to the alleged bail breach.
Police search and public warning
Western Australia Police have released a description and appealed for public assistance to locate Williams. Investigators believe she frequents the southern Perth suburbs of Thornlie, Gosnells, and Rockingham.
She is described as approximately 160cm tall with a solid build, brown hair, and green eyes. Distinctive tattoos are visible on her left shoulder and right arm.
A police spokesman issued a clear warning: "If sighted, members of the public are advised not to approach Ms Williams, but to contact police immediately on 131 444."
The case highlights the challenges of monitoring high-risk accused persons on home detention bail and has mobilised specialist police resources during the holiday period.
