Townsville District Court Sittings: April 29
The Townsville District Court has published its schedule of cases for April 29. The list includes a variety of criminal matters, ranging from assault and drug offences to fraud and property crimes. The court will hear these cases in a series of sessions throughout the day.
List of Cases
The following cases are among those listed for hearing:
- R v John Smith – charged with assault occasioning bodily harm
- R v Jane Doe – facing drug possession and supply charges
- R v Michael Brown – accused of fraud involving over $50,000
- R v Sarah Johnson – charged with burglary and theft
Additional cases may be added to the list as the court day progresses. The public is welcome to attend the court proceedings, which will be held in Courtroom 1 at the Townsville District Court building.
Court Procedures
The District Court handles serious criminal offences, including those that carry penalties of more than three years imprisonment. Cases are heard by a judge, and in some instances, a jury may be empanelled to decide the verdict. The court also deals with appeals from the Magistrates Court.
