An incident at Jesmond Central shopping centre sparked an extended police operation over the weekend.

Newcastle police remained on the scene into the afternoon on Saturday, May 23, conducting inquiries at the KFC fast food restaurant within the centre complex. It was understood that a person had been transported to the Mater hospital, although no serious injuries have been reported.
