Queensland police have charged a man following disturbing allegations of sexual assault at two separate massage therapy businesses on the state's east coast. Authorities are now concerned there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.
Details of the Alleged Incidents
The investigation centres on two separate incidents involving young women at shopping centre-based massage salons. The first alleged assault occurred on Sunday, November 9, at a massage business within the Australia Fair shopping complex in Southport on the Gold Coast.
Police allege that a 61-year-old man inappropriately touched a 17-year-old teenager during an appointment around 4:30pm.
The second incident is alleged to have taken place months earlier, on August 8, at a massage salon inside the Westfield Chermside shopping centre in Brisbane. In this case, the same man is accused of inappropriately touching a 29-year-old woman.
Arrest and Court Proceedings
Following their investigation, detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested the man on Monday. The arrest took place in the carpark of a Biggera Waters shopping complex.
The 61-year-old Beenleigh man has been formally charged with two counts of sexual assault. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Southport Magistrates Court on February 4, 2026.
Police Appeal for Further Information
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Aubort has publicly praised the courage of the two women who reported the incidents. He also issued a direct appeal for information, fearing the alleged offender may have more victims.
"We believe there may be more victims out there and are appealing to anyone who've experienced similar incidents at massage businesses in the Gold Coast or Brisbane areas, or anyone with further information, to contact police," Detective Senior Sergeant Aubort said.
He emphasised the support available, stating: "We acknowledge the bravery of the victim-survivors who have come forward in this investigation, and we want to reassure others who may have experienced anything similar that they are not alone, and there is support available to you."
Police urge anyone with information related to these incidents or similar experiences to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
