A senior constable from Far North Queensland has been charged with fraud and computer hacking offences after a police investigation into alleged misuse of police systems.

The Ethical Standards Command launched an investigation after receiving a complaint about the officer's conduct. Following a thorough inquiry, detectives arrested the senior constable at his home in Cairns on Thursday morning. He was taken to the Cairns Watchhouse and later released on bail.

The officer is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 15. The Queensland Police Service has stated that the officer has been suspended from duty with pay pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
